Director’s Note

Sierra Sosbee

I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself to you all as your director and offer some (hopefully) helpful advice before your audition. First off, my name is Sierra Sosbee and I am thrilled to be directing my third AOP production with Much Ado About Nothing!  This show is very special to me and happens to be my favorite Shakespeare of all time. I am looking forward to all of your auditions!

Some explanation about what I am looking for: find your character and make bold choices. Your choices don’t have to be perfect, I just want to see you make choices. I am looking for strong character choices regardless of the length of your scene. I also highly recommend reading the full play to understand the arc of your characters before auditioning. Shakespeare is public domain and it is easy to find the script online. I recommend the Folger Shakespeare pdf that is available online.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with! Know that you will not be asked to do all of the sides available for auditions. You will be asked to prepare one scene and a monologue if there is one in your characters’ folder. If you are auditioning for more than one role, please prepare for the role you would like most.

Thank you so much for your interest in Much Ado About Nothing! I hope to see you at auditions!
