The Addams Family isn’t a story about fitting in, it’s a celebration of those who embrace standing out.

At its heart, this show reminds us that there is no single definition of “normal.” It’s about individuality, acceptance, and loving people exactly as they are. That’s what makes this story resonate far beyond the comedy.

As you prepare your audition, remember that these characters are real people with real relationships, fears, and dreams. Resist the temptation to play them completely deadpan or turn them into caricatures. They love, grieve, celebrate, argue, and dream just like everyone else…they simply do it in ways audiences may not expect!  Ground choices in truth, humanity, and genuine connection, and the comedy will take care of itself.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Wednesday Addams, the brilliant and delightfully macabre daughter of Gomez and Morticia, has done the unthinkable: she’s fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a “normal” young man from a respectable family. Before introducing him to her family, Wednesday asks Gomez to keep their engagement a secret from Morticia, forcing him to do the one thing he’s never had to do before: keep a secret from the love of his life.

When the Beinekes arrive for one unforgettable dinner, two wildly different families collide. Hidden truths surface, relationships are tested, and both families discover that love doesn’t always look the way we expect. Guided by generations of Addams ancestors, this hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt musical celebrates individuality, family, and reminds us there’s room for everyone, whether they’re mysterious, a little spooky, delightfully kooky, or simply wonderfully strange.
